The Office of the Auditor General shall ensure that the community's resources and assets are used and administered in keeping with the Storting's decisions. We do this through auditing, monitoring and guidance.
General vision
To contribute efficiently and effectively to the Storting’s supervisory activities and to promote good government administration.
Independence
The OAG has an independent status vis-à-vis government administration, and reports the results of its auditing and monitoring activities to the Norwegian parliament (the Storting).

The OAG performs three types of audit:
- financial audits
- performance audits
- corporate control
Facts about the OAG
- The OAG is led by a Board of five Auditors General who are elected for a term of four years
- Jørgen Kosmo is the Chairman of the Board of Auditors General and has been elected for the period 2010-2013
- Bjørg Selås is the Secretary General, the senior administrative manager
- The OAG has approximately 500 employees
- The working environment is interdisciplinary and encompasses auditors, lawyers, economists, social scientists and several other professional spheres

- The headquarters is in Oslo at Pilestredet 42, while approximately 100 members of staff have their offices at 17 other locations in Norway
