Global cooperation

Together with most of the supreme audit institutions (SAIs) in the United Nations member states, the Office of the Auditor General of Norway is member of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI).

The Auditor General of Norway is, as host for the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI), a member of INTOSAIs Governing Board.

The Office of the Auditor General of Norway is also member of the European Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI), which is INTOSAIs regional working group in Europe.

Global Working Group (GWG) is an informal meeting forum for Auditor generals in 16 SAIs throughout the world. The purpose is to discuss common issues and challenges, identify and share knowledge and best practices, learn from each other and leverage knowledge and expertise to benefit the broader INTOSAI community.

Nordic cooperation

The Nordic countries, Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, Finland, the Faroe Islands and Norway, have a well-established multilateral cooperation. The vision for the Nordic cooperation between SAIs is:

“To exchange competence and experience for the development of our institutions”

Audit assignments and secondments

The Office of the Auditor General of Norway has several assignments as external auditor for international institutions

The OAG of Norway has also employees on secondment in other SAIs or International Organisations. In addition we have regularly hosted secondees from other SAIs.

Capacity building projects

The Office of the Auditor General of Norway has long been involved in two different types of capacity building projects.

  • For several years we have had a bilateral capacity building cooperation with the Office of the Auditor General of Zambia
  • We are also involved in the Peer Reviews of other SAIs. In a Peer Review, SAIs evaluate the organisation and output of a fellow SAI using the standards applicable in the profession.

We are currently expanding the scope of our capacity building work through a collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The focus of this work will mainly be on institutional strengthening.
